Toto was another female imposter.......she was a Cairn Terrier named Terry. She was owned by dog trainer Carl Spitz. Story has it that she was extremely shy and it took him over seven weeks to train it. When he made the deal with the producers of OZ, he had no idea how vital to the film Terry/Toto would be and settled for a mere $125 a week for her services. In retrospect he felt he could have gotten at least $500 for her.
