Snowy Serials
To celebrate 17" of snow about my home I will ask about snowy serials. There were a few serials to have to be based in cold winter climates or go to cold places. Please name some.

Since all we got here in Kansas was about two inches of rain out of that storm I will defer on talking about snow in serials. Smiley

No need to cancel school or to even get the snow shovel out for my contributions: Hawk of the Wilderness and Daredevils of the Red Circle both had only 1 "Snowflake" in them. The always good actor Fred Toones added enjoyment to a lot of 1930's movies.

We measured 28" on the road here, and in the drift that covered my car, 38". That was fun digging that up.
My favorite snowy serial is THE GREAT ALASKAN MYSTERY.

Barcroft leaves the sunny confines of Florida to visit the kids up in Baltimore and low and behold 20+ inches of snow. As he feverishly helps his son-in-law shovel out the driveway Mrs. Barcroft sticks her head out of the door with VCR camera in hand asking the following question: Do you still want to return to Maryland after we retire? The answer was a resounding Nooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! Sorry guys just had to rant a little bit. I have to agree with Dr. Tobor that The Great Alaskan Mystery is also my favorite snowy serial.

Several silent serials had snow scenes, in part because in the early days many serials were shot in the East. The cliffhanger that comes most readily to mind is "Snowed In" (1926), which co-starred Allene Ray and Walter Miller. The wintry location scenes were shot in Idaho.
