The two that come to mind are THE OLD BARN DANCE and THE OLD CORRAL. In these two movies Roy was a member of the Sons of the Pioneers and one of these he was credited as Dick Weston. I don't know if they actually co-starred together or not. Here again I was in both these movies. SmileyTNL Unregistered User (2/3/03 5:41 am)
Ken, you should tell us a bit about yourself. Your exploits in film would be interesting to those here at the NL.TNL Unregistered User (2/3/03 12:59 pm)
How about telling us the name of your ring-eyed horse?KanSmiley Registered User (2/3/03 1:25 pm)
My white horse went by two different names: Ringeye and Nellie. TNL: My nickname is KANSmiley. Not Ken. I currently reside in the wheat state of Kansas. SmileyTNL Unregistered User (2/3/03 2:45 pm)
Well, whatever name you go by, you are welcome on these boards. We will try to keep the name straight from here on out. And you are right on Smiley's horse's names......... I just caught a Durango movie the other night and he called the horse Ringeye....... I was used to Nellie.Chief Thunder Cloud Registered User (2/4/03 1:53 pm)
Roy appeared as a member of "The Sons of the Pioneers" in Gene's movie entitled "The Big Show" (1936). This was the one that was partially filmed at the Texas Centennial.
Gene played a dual role in this film. He played himself and also an actor by the name of Tom Ford wearing a moustache.
Sally Payne and "The Texas Dough Boys" appeared in the film. "The Texas Dough Boys" later became known as "Bob Wills and his Texas Playboys." A bit of trivia for you.
