Movie Quiz
What movie cowboys had a career outside of westerns in feature films? Some did romantic comedies and other genres....the main example being John Wayne. Try and limit your answers to B Western stars.
Duane Fulk (1/22/03 9:07 am)
May I guess two? Johnny Mack Brown did several non-western films (1-2 opposite Joan Crawford) before his B westerns. And Don "Red" Barry did some features after his B western stint.

Hi Duane, good to see you posting. You got two of them, but there are a few more out there.

Joel McCrea did quite a lot of comedy (PALM BEACH STORY, SULLIVAN'S TRAVELS, MORE THE MERRIER) and Randolph Scott did at least one musical (ROBERTA). Allan Lane even made one screwball comedy, MAID'S NIGHT OUT, in which he co-starred with Joan Fontaine.

How about adding Tom Tyler to the mix. Granted his only starring roles outside of Westerns were in serials, he also was a great asset to many "A" movies as a bad guy. Plus he wasn't a bad looking Mummy either.

Bob Allen worked in non-Western films both before and after his Texas Ranger series. He also appeared on radio and on Broadway. Some of those Ranger films are still seen on the Western channel.
