Nostalgic TV
What 50s TV show was it where the viewers wrote in and requested to see things they had memories of and wanted the show to locate for them? And who was the distinguished white haired actor who was the master of ceremonies on that show?

I don't know if this is right show but it sure sounds like "You Asked For It". I will let some one else try to name the host although I thinks his initials are the same as my given name.

If "You Asked For It" is correct the first host was Art Baker and later Jack Smith. NBC had an identical show in the late 40's called "I'd Like To See."

Yes, the show was "You Asked For It" as hosted by Art Baker. A funny sidelight to the show... Once they had a fellow whose act was catching a cannon-ball shot out of a cannon. It was a low charge and there was relatively no danger. In rehearsal, the effect did not seem quite right and the floor manager requested that the charge be made a bit heavier for a more dramatic effect. Not knowing what had already been requested, the Director went to props and asked them to increase the charge also. The prop men did what they were told. When the show went onto the air live, the cannon ball came out with such force that the wind was knocked out of the man and he was knocked through the backdrop behind him. Very impressive on camera and luckily nobody was hurt. But you had one startled performer there.
