I just watched a special on satellite called "The Universal Story," a history of Universal Studios hosted and narrated by Richard Dreyfuss. During the segment dealing with the early years, what should appear but a clip from Chapter One of the 30's serial "Danger Island." C'mon, Universal, release those long hidden pleasures from your vaults.

Strange, every time I hear that title Danger Island, I think of my three young sons sitting in front of the tv set watching the Danger Island serial segments starring Jan Michael Vincent on the Banana Splits show.

Well, jadm, could be VCI may in the near future be making another "big" announcement about the release of DANGER ISLAND. I hope. At least that's the rumor. The rumors about the 2 SECRET AGENT X-9S and JUNGLE JIM first started circulating about 2 years ago, I do believe. It finally happened this year, so keep your fingers crossed.

What would really please me more than anything else would be the release of DAREDEVILS OF THE WEST, from Republic. complete with all original sound. Am I hoping against hope? Maybe, but maybe not. Paramount does have the complete negative now that the Hoppy people once possessed. Rumor has it they also have the complete soundtrack. Now, if only Paramount would change their minds about releasing the serials, or whomever they have may have contracted for the work. (Last I heard it was Image Entertainment, but you hear something different about all that every month).

And yes, let's also not forget the original LONE RANGER serial, completely intact and in total English and English credits.

We serial loves still have something to hope for at least.
