Anyone Know Of A Good Source For Series Films On DVD?

I love the old series films from the thirties and forties such as Charlie Chan, Sherlock Holmes, Mr. Moto, The Saint, The Falcon, Andy Hardy, Blondie, Maisie, Philo Vance, Bowery Boys, Jungle Jim, Boston Blackie, Crime Doctor, Tarzan and the many B-western series as well. Does anyone know of a good source for these films on DVD. I am no longer interested in VHS as the resolution is so much better on DVD and, unlike tapes, the resolution remains great even as the size of the screen increases.

Bill, there are lots of vendors on internet sites selling collections of those B series movies, but you have to be very careful as some of them are just burning VHS copies to dvdr with cheap recorders. They sometimes are not compatible with many DVD players. The newest machines are eliminating compatibilty problems, but the older players have difficulties playing many other disc formats. Just because the DVDs have professional looking labels that does not mean a thing.

What about a classic edition double DVD of Radar Men from the Moon with a recent interview with George Wallace. He's still going strong.
I recently purchased The Lone Ranger classic edition double DVD with an interview between Leonard Maltin and Clayton Moore's daughter - how much better to have had Clayton Moore in the flesh ....

Since Roan was acqiured by Troma, I have noticed a real slowing of the release of the kind of product for which Roan had become known. For those of us who were fans of the Roan product, this is a sad byproduct.

Sadly the restorations of classic films, serials and westerns that Roan was so good at has slowed down to almost nothing (there has been a third Roy Rogers double feature released not too long ago.)
From the deep discounts that they are offering on most all the Roan titles, it looks like house cleaning time at Tromaville..... what a disappointment.
