The Martian Chronicles is a series of interconnected short stories dealing with the colonization of Mars and is considered by many to be Bradbury's finest work.
Note the standard 50s rocket in the background and that the figure in the foreground carries a .45 and an ordinary pair of binoculars. Obviously, an attempt to distill Bradbury's novel into one image. Succeeds fairly well, since Bradbury didn't write "high-tech" science fiction.
