The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction

The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction
December, 1951

Here is a rather nebulous cover that, unfortunately, has often been the rule rather than the exception for SF and Fantasy magazines. I have no idea what is going on here, other than the colored blobs with eyes are watching the floaty girl. It also doesn't seem to relate to anything in the magazine.
The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction began publication in 1949, although the first issue was called The Magazine of Fantasy, and is still being published today. It has always published a mixture of science fiction and fantasy pieces and among its accomplishments was the first publication of Daniel Keye's Flowers for Algernon and Stephen King's Dark Tower.
This issue, true to the cover blurb, has a selection of old and new stories, the most notable of which is "O Ugly Bird!" by Manly Wade Wellman, a part of his John the Balladeer series: a series of horror stories, and one novel, set in the Applachians.
